Please tell your husband that tinnitus is a very common condition, that comes in many forms and intensities and no two people experience it the same. It is not just loudness of the tinnitus or hyperacusis which is important but more crucial is how they affect a person's mental and emotional wellbeing. @Michael Leigh. I think he’s a fool. I know he’s had tinnitus forever but how lucky he is that it hasn’t fluctuated apart from when he has a cold. He cuts the lawn, uses the leaf blower, no protection. And obviously went to a concert for the 50th time without any protection. Someday he might not be so lucky.
Ironic that I’m the one that is so protective of my ears and I’m in this mess.
@Forever hopeful. There are many people that have a cavalier attitude to loud sounds like your husband. His lack of empathy towards the increased spike that you're currently enduring and the distress it's causing you needs to change. If he cares about your wellbeing, then he should peruse posts in this forum and he'll soon realize tinnitus is not something to take lightly!
He said he’s had it forever. Even before he went to college and had subsequent concussions while playing football. He said it was far worse during college and has improved over the years. He still get spikes if he has a cold. But he can sit in a loud restaurant and if he listens for it, he says he can hear it.
