It knocked me out, and am unsure if it worsened my T a bit. If you try it, start v low e.g. 5mg and increase slowly. Dosage for neuropathy is 10-20mg in any event, so very low (cf. up to 150mg for depression, though some have taken up to 300mg).

Sorry @Uklawyer. Did you take nortriptyline or Amitriptyline? What the difference anyway?

@makeyourownluck I took Amitriptyline. Both are tricyclic antidepressants - mainly used for depression. Came out in late 1950s and were used before SSRIs. Because of side effects, are generally second choice after SSRIs. Also used at lower doses for nerve pain. Common side effects: dry mouth, increased appetite, urinary retention. Amitriptyline can make you tired too, so generally taken at night.

Nont sure of safety profile of Nortriptyline for tinnitus - others can tell you.

I have never heard of neutontin. And only horror stories about gabapentin. Have you taken either?

Neurontin was originally approved for post herpetic neuralgia and then more broadly used for nerve pain. And sometimes used off label as a mood stabilizer but that’s dose dependent. I just wondered if it was an option for you. Both of my cousins are on gabapentin for nerve pain. One has a lot of neuralgia in her feet despite not being diabetic. She also has tinnitus. No side effects.

Thanks @Forever hopeful. I’m a little nervous of any medication that mentions tinnitus, no matter the rarity. Gonna get off these antibiotics in 9 days and if things are still this bad I’ll have no choice but to try something. This level of pain is not something I am prepared to live with.

Sorry @Uklawyer, forgot to ask, what dose we’re you taking when you T increased?
