Besides the nerve pain, how are your ears lately? Is tinnitus behaving well? How about that pesky ear fullness? Any improvements there? Or still the same BS? Hope you’re managing okay.
Woah, wasn’t expecting this many likes. It goes to show that there’s many people here that care about your well-being. Or maybe they like how I called you ‘Lady Luck’ :)
Thanks for reaching out @ZFire and everyone else. I’m not doing great tbh, right in the midst of it. Don’t want to be too fatalistic…. But yeah, it’s hard going atm
Damn… I’m really sorry. I can't begin to imagine what you're going through, battling that horrible nerve pain on a daily basis. It hurts seeing someone who’s my age going through such a ordeal. I’m not going to bombard you with ‘advice’ that you probably have already heard or tired of hearing. I know how hard you’re trying. <3
Currently on gabapentin, Nortriptyline, diazepam and lidocaine patches for nerve pain. Nothing is working.Any suggestions are welcomed
@MindOverMatter - basically everything from my belly button down. It’s a nightmare. Most intense in groin area. Can’t sit at all. I got an iud removed just before onset..
Waiting for neurologist, things take a long time in the UK. I’m on 75mg Nortriptyline, 1200mg gabapentin, 15mg diazepam, tramadol when it gets intense but I try limit that as it makes me feel weird. I don’t like taking all these things
Luckily no effect on tinnitus. Just need something that actually works. I’ve had to go off sick from work the past week and I only just got the job 3 months ago.
@CRGC Yeah, I thought about that. That makes more sense. And I didn't mean that not working 2008 is a good thing. I'm practically disabled, I would do almost anything to get rid of this.
Yeah @CRGC, just not sure I want to keep wading through shit. Especially when the only thing on the other side is more shit.
I feel you @makeyourownluck ... we can't be 100% sure that shit's the only thing on that other side though. We just have to hang in there and hope for positive change. Because change always comes. Nothing stays the same forever <3
hey, i see, you have once had a low hum sound developed. Does this stopped ever since you have developed it?
Yeah, it comes and goes. It’s not a bit issue for me anymore. Was never as loud as the other noises anyway. Try ignore it as best you can. @Aschenherz
thank you for your comments, Guys. Unfortnately, the hum is my biggest noise, but it could also be, because it is new, that it is very loud.
Have this hum for 15 days. Have normal T too. The hum is sometimes constant, sometimes intermitted. Louder when laying on my back or look up. Hope this Monster will go away.
Suffering severe nerve pain when i sit or lie down. Anyone taking Amitriptyline for nerve pain? T listed as uncommon (1:100) side effect.
Neurontin was originally approved for post herpetic neuralgia and then more broadly used for nerve pain. And sometimes used off label as a mood stabilizer but that’s dose dependent. I just wondered if it was an option for you. Both of my cousins are on gabapentin for nerve pain. One has a lot of neuralgia in her feet despite not being diabetic. She also has tinnitus. No side effects.
Thanks @Forever hopeful. I’m a little nervous of any medication that mentions tinnitus, no matter the rarity. Gonna get off these antibiotics in 9 days and if things are still this bad I’ll have no choice but to try something. This level of pain is not something I am prepared to live with.
Great find @Rockman. Thank you! I’ve been researching this for over a year and have never seen that paper! Will show it to my doctor and see what they say.
Excellent! I just happened to stumble upon it googling ear pain remedies. If I knew how to make a new thread with informative info on it I would. Another one I came across was emoxypine.. which is otc
much appreciated @Rockman. It would be beyond great to get rid of the fullness. I was kinda hoping antibiotics might get rid of it tbh. In the back of my mind, I always thought the fullness was caused by some low grade infection, but was too afraid to take the antibiotics. Seems funny considering the amount of pills I am taking now.
@makeyourownluck , yes I’m still taking it for a little over a year now (50mg). I’m tapering off it now though. Going down 10mg every 2 months(at 40mg atm).
If I see no improvement by tomorrow I am going to be admitted to hospital. Do you get to choose what drugs you get in hospital?
I’m late, but @CRGC has the right idea here. If you’re weary of taking a specific drug that’s given to you, just say you’ve had severe allergic reactions from that drug.
Been poorly but muddling through in this new job. Have a pretty bad infection and been prescribed Augmentin and Metronidazole. Are these OK?
No improvement. I think my anxiety is better under control with some of the medication I’ve been taking. Waking up is my least favorite part of the day, although it is quiet first thing in the am. My husband is away and I have been managing the kids. It sucks.
Glad the anxiety is a bit better @Forever hopeful. Fingers crossed things improve. As you know, ears take forever to heal.
That’s great news about the interview, I have my fingers crossed for you. From a noise perspective, a smaller organisation may be ideal.
Yeah, I’m hoping things return to normal. I’m back to being hyper aware of my right ear. Feeling very lopsided.
14 months now and the ear fullness is still as bad as ever. Carrying on with life, but it’s tough going.
Sometimes feels like my throat on that side is covered in something. I’m thinking the nerves around that area are just fried and creating weird signals.
I can’t do the gum because I have TMJD. I might try hard boiled sweets. Thanks for the suggestion @ZFire.
I have had a shit year health wise. Autoimmune, T, a few other things. I’ve been off work/uni for 12 months. Doesn’t look great.
I thought maybe a drug test is all employers would cared about, but I see you guys do things differently over there in Scotland. Anyways, I sympathize with you. On top of all that, lets also not forget you’re raising a child too which is another demanding job in and of itself.
@makeyourownluck I don’t bother. I went to a party the other day with earplugs and over ear protection on. People must have thought I was special haha.
Lol, forgot about this. Tried to get it in the movie quote thread but it was a bridge too far. I don’t normally like Will Ferrell, but Talladega Nights has some good lines in it.
It’s 6:30 here and I can’t sleep. Kids up in 2 hours. Something tells me today will not be a good day.
She’s 5 but she’s very well behaved and has entertained herself most of the day. Let’s just say I’m looking forward to bedtime. I think I’m past all nighters. Btw, I really likes your photo in the ‘our art’ thread. Do you have any more?
Hey thanks @makeyourownluck! I do have more. I didn't want to flood the thread with a bunch of street shots, but maybe I can post now and then
Inhaling steam(am&pm), drinking 2l of water(min),and massaging TMJ/face. Slight reduction in fullness, T unchanged, and my skin is glowing.
I bought a facial steamer with a compartment for essential oils. I have oily skin so it’s a two birds, one stone situation. Although, it’s definitely helping my skin more than my ears. I wish we could see into my ear. I just want to know what the problem is lol.
@makeyourownluck Same here, I have oily skin too. So I was congested from Covid. My left ear got clogged up..Steamed up intensively using a bowl of hot water and towel around head (with olbas oil). It eventually unclogged itself. My skin looks good too now, but probably not as good as yours though. You got that silky smooth skin i bet.
Found out my daughter needs glasses and I feel really sad about it. I know it’s not that big a deal, but it’s hit me hard.
Yeah ok @ZFire, worse than before, but some improvement. Still really bad at my local library though, which is a shame because it’s been a safe haven for me and my daughter to play. Thankfully Ive never had them as bad as you guys.
Hi I just saw your audiogram ( high frequency hearing loss ) and you said that you regained some of your upper frequencies. How long did it take? I have the same problem right now. Sudden hearing loss (3,5 hz - 6hz 20-30db)
Ah, I have never been told there is a +\- 15dB range. That’s a huge margin of error! Very odd, the audiologist who took my last results said that she has only seen improvement on an audiogram in cases of sudden hearing loss (w/wo steroids). She suggested I may have had Covid. I think we should choose to believe it’s recovery, good for the mental health :)!
Yes it is! I really have 7-8 audiograms done in one month and always with different results :D But yes you are right we should choose to believe its recovery . The Ent in the university clinic told me that its even in the high frequencies possible to recover!!
This is my first fire alarm, tinnitus increased yesterday but back to normal today. I am not so anxious about my T, it’s the ear fullness. Yesterday was horrific, anytime I swallowed or moved my ear I had physical pain. Gone by this morning. Just going to sit in a quite room while my daughters at nursery.
For moderate-severe folks, you won’t forget entirely, but you’ll have good stretches of forgetting it here and there. The brain eventually gets bored of constantly paying attention to it every hour of every day. Brain will find other stimulus to shift its focus on.
Don’t get me wrong, I have had moments when I’m caught up doing something else and I do not hear my T, but I could never forget about it long term. You know, the, “tinnitus, oh yeah I have that” scenario.
It did happen to me having severe Pulsatile tinnitus, high pitch tinnitus left ear and morse code tinnitus on my right, does take time.
Got TMJD. Getting a splint & ultrasound of muscles. A muscle just under my jaw is ‘locked on’. Hopefully treatment reduces this fullness.
Fed up of this bulls**t, I’m resuming normal life. Symptoms remain stable. Intense pressure is still the worst issue.
First time I have seen my friends since onset. It’s been a year. My fullness definitely increases with noise exposure, but also increases when I use earplugs. Will see how this goes.
Yeah same here. I saw my friends (8 people) last week after like 10 months and I also got some ear fullness, but subsided the next day. My symptoms are also quite stable generally, so I guess we have to keep on living somehow!
That’s great @DimLeb, I hope things keep getting better for you. I have constant ear fullness but I’m just fed up waiting lol. I have a young kid so it’s impossible for me to avoid loud noise entirely. Just hoping the fullness will resolve over time.
This week I have attended my daughters nursery graduation (w plugs), drove short distances w/o plugs, and went camping with friends.
New pulsating cicada noise in right ear. Low vibration in left ear has disappeared. I think my ears are trying to recover.
Melon baller lmao. Well, good to hear about your hearing being back in the ‘normal’ range atleast. Ears take a long time to heal. That’s what a lot of people here say.
Good news. I have the humming for 18 days. More intense at midnight or when i lay on my back or my head is looking up. Sometimes the humming is intermitted.
@makeyourownluck : " Fuck all Yall" @Wrfortiscue : " Once you killed a cow, you gotta make a burger! Just say WHEN " :))
@makeyourownluck your last comment made me LOL. I’m sure we could gag everyone just in case. I know @Wrfortiscue wouldn’t mind. XD
