I've been doing somewhat better/stable, but have terrible setback now, and increased nox and lower tolerance to speech via speakers which I did not have problems with before. Sucks.

Reactive Tinnitus needs to be tackled with natural white noise and very carefully

Hardly here @gameover and @Jupiterman. I use the water faucet and things like the fan I started low and gradually built up more over time. The reactivity slowly started adapting to it.

Occipital Neuralgia can cause T, I think they confirm it my doing a lidocaine block on the nerve and if the pain stops then its the cause.

Who has tinnitus was caused from noise and are your hair cells damaged and do you have hearing loss? They said. Mine is from noise, I have bad hearing loss, but mine isn’t in the speech frequency like needing a hearing aid. Mine is I. The extended high frequency when I got tested at tinnitus clinic.
      1. Forever hopeful
        Forever hopeful
@SharonBell I am not sure how old you are but it is expected that we lose higher frequencies as we age often by the time enter your 30s. There is much debate about this as a cause of T since those frequencies are not frequently part of our environment so it begs the question as to why the brain would seek to replace the missing frequencies if we are not exposed to them often.

@SharonBell Sure,Hyperacusis is a condition in which the ears become highly sensitive to sound. Personally, I have experienced the onset of hyperacusis, and it has had a significant impact on my daily life. Simple things like the clanking of metal utensils or the sound of coins hitting the floor became extremely discomforting to hear, almost as if I had been exposed to a loud gunshot.

I noticed that higher-frequency sounds tended to agitate me even more. The sensitivity was so intense that I couldn't even tolerate running a fan on its lowest setting. If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, it's possible that you may be dealing with hyperacusis.

I wish I could try lidocaine into the inner ear just to see if it would work like it does for some people IV. I know its only temporary but we need SOMETHING.

Yes, my SSHL was in ultra high frequencies in my right ear from an ear infection, so unfortunately, I always have some kind ultra high pitch going on, and it’s reactive. Then I have other awful sounds that are down in 1000-3000 Hz that make no sense because technically I have no hearing loss there.

However, over the past 15 months, I have learned to tune it out most of the time and still sleep peacefully. Months ago, I made a firm decision that suicide was not an option, and since then, the power it held over me has diminished.

@RunningMan Yeah, MEM episodes thankfully stop after some time. The first few months for me, there were times I had it for 4-7 hours - 1-2 times a week. But now it usually happens for 1-2 hours 3-5 times a week. It also shifted from hiccups to yawning triggering it. I don't know if it's an improvement. This crap is a mystery. (We had talked about this in another thread btw)

@DimLeb Indeed, I remembered that when seeing your earlier comments. Since then, the spontaneous thumps seem a little more frequent, but don't last as long, maybe minutes, I try to focus on something else. They do seem triggered sometimes by muscular movements of head or jaw at any time of day, except I don't think they've ever started during exercise (with or w/o earplugs) or watching TV (with sound).

@Strawberryblonde thank you love I’m trying my best to push through this spike. The past few days have been electric sand storms piercing my ears at an ultra high frequency. I can only assume I’m experiencing a setback. This type of reactivity is the definition of debilitating @ErikaS I’ve beaten it once, I’m hoping i can bounce back again

My right ear is 100% healed from H. My left ear is bouncing between 85% ~ 95%. Another year should add 5%

Hey @Sammy0225 is your TTTS still pretty much gone? I forget if you’ve answered this or not but how long did it take for that to happen? Mine is better than it used to be but comes back for a few days here and there for some reason.

@PennyCat hi Hun! Yes it took 8-9 months but it’s currently gone. I have days where it comes back but it never last more then 2-3 days

I tend to agree. While my T is bad I feel I can deal with it better than with loudness H. But I don't know how to help H. Overprotecting was making it worse. I do not overprotect, get plenty sound exposure at normal level (while overall living quiet life), yet H is getting worse it seems.

        Same here man.
I didn’t see any significant improvements till about14 months into having loudness H. What a bullshit condition. And yea over protecting didn’t do me any favors also. I didn’t start seeing progress till I slowly started exposing back into sound

My condition is really weird, I've been exposing continuously since late May at least, while avoiding any traumas, yet while I saw some transient improvements, I am worse H wise. Not at the worst peak wise, but I think worse average wise.

Great to hear @Sammy0225 Creating new positive neural pathways is indeed the way forward in my opinion. This has worked for me as well throughout my journey. There are many ways to go around this, and it doesn't necessarily have to be the more "complex" routes like DNRS or EMDR - but both of those are optional routes.
