Finally got up courage to mow the lawn today. It did not seem loud at all with the peltors. Helps that it’s electric.

Why is tinnitus causing severe headaches more often than not? the medical community tells me it is just a sound and to ignore it.

Stress and anxiety maybe? Today is the first time I got a headache from all this and I have been more stressed about it...

@Tryn2BHopeful possibly a factor. After next Thursday I will be off work for 6.5 weeks for vacation so I hope that helps calm my T and headaches down. Lots of outdoor activities planned. Quiet office just makes my brain go crazy. Luckily I can work from home over half the time.

@TomK i sometimes think about changing my diet , but never end up doing it because I know deep down it will do nothing. I lost 95 lbs and got in the best shape of my life and it did nothing. So some minor diet changes will do nothing at this point.

Hopefully you can find a psychiatrist who understands what benzodiazepines do to Tinnitus. They calm it down and it is a nice feeling w/o hissing driving me to a slow death.

I agree with you. Some GPs do have the attitude that tinnitus is nothing, learn to live with it. I was told this 27 years ago when I first got it. I attended the surgery everyday for 8 days, until a GP took me seriously and made the referral to ENT. I have also had very understanding GPs, ENT doctors and Audiologists, so they are not all clueless. Best of luck.

Quite the opposite @sakrt. I have had no adverse effects taking St John's Wort. tinnitus can cause headaches for some people. It wasn't until my ENT consultant mentioned it, that I began to notice, my tinnitus can cause headaches when it's intrusive.

@Michael Leigh Yes, when T. is more intrusive, it triggers headaches for me too. In past, each time I tried St. John's Wort I woke up with a nagging headache, like you can w/ melatonin. However, I can't recall how many mg. at the time though, so that be a factor (too much?) and was possibly interacting w/ other meds then. What was your dosage?

I keep thinking of how I can re-invent my life. Buy a camper, travel with family around the world. Decal camper in order to raise awareness of T. The only problem, I would be travelling with T but would be a better distraction then now. Maybe set up a YouTube channel with my travels. Will be interesting to see if we grow a large following. It will give us an indication of the number of suffers.

@cjbhab - I often question, do I really need to stay away from restaurants,.. do I really need to wear protection when I go outside,… it must be me being to sensitive. My family compares me to those people with T that do everything. I tell them…. I keep having to remind them, I probably do not have the same T.

@4Grace I still think this stat is completely wrong. If I go to the mall and poll random people if they currently have ringing in their ears, I probably won’t even find somebody who says yes. 1 in 6 might have at one point experienced ringing, sure.

@4Grace you probably aren’t being sensitive. I think everybody’s T is so different that only you know what you can handle. Quiet restaurants are okay for me but any place where there are a bunch of people talking in a small space is the worst thing for me. I think those people doing everything with T have very minor T and they don’t experience spikes like we do.
