Don't miss the opportunity to attend Tinnitus Quest's online Q&A with Dr. Susan Shore and Jon Pearson, CEO of Auricle on October 13. We will hear the latest about the Susan Shore Device.
Yes I got hyperacusis from it too! I have so many tones I’m miserable. Almost ended it yesterday. I don’t see it being better. The electric buzz, hiss and squeals are terrible.
@linearb, is kindling a real phenomenon? Before I went on for 6 weeks I was on Klonopin for 4 weeks and cold turkeyed because no one told me how to stop it, but I was fine.
When I went back on it a few weeks later and then tapered I got bad withdrawal with tinnitus increasing and getting more...
If you believe other people, it has happened. Science doesn’t even understand why tinnitus happens so good luck finding any studies on why it could improve suddenly.
My tinnitus was a 1/10 pre vaccine. It shot it to a 9/10 and 12/10 during spikes. I also developed insane hyperacusis from the vaccine where it spikes to sheets and swallowing. I was put on Klonopin and steroids. Tapering from Klonopin made it even worse. I’ve lost all sound tolerance.
I hear you. This puts you into survival mode when it gets bad. It’s tough to concentrate and it has actually cost me my job now that it has gotten severe from the vaccine. If it isn’t bothering you too much and you don’t have hyperacusis, protect your ears as much as you can so it won’t worsen...
Have you been listening to headphones or loud music a lot? Any loud noises? Go diving or any recent colds or sinus issues? Did you get COVID-19 vaccine?
It has been 10 months since my second Pfizer vaccine, which caused severe tinnitus and mind boggling hyperacusis. It has not subsided.
On a non-tinnitus side note the vaccine also caused anxiety attacks that last for hours and visual snow. The anxiety attacks have improved slightly I think.
The only issue here is if you don’t do a good job you can end up like Christopher Reeves but with screaming tinnitus. Now that’s scary! I had a close call with that.
