Tinnitus Spike Since Coming Back to These Forums

Hey Guys, I came back to these forums to try and help others out, however ever since doing that it has caused my tinnitus to spike and this is undoing all the hard work I put in habituating the first time, unfortunately, I'm going to have to stay away from boards like this as it does me no good...

Removing the Human Cochlea — Would It Silence the Tinnitus?

I'm pretty sure that whatever part of the brain that causes T, probably has another function other than just causing tinnitus. If it could be isolated and destroyed this way, then there is no way it wouldn't effect something else.

    Anyone Try Amantadine for Tinnitus?

I've never heard of amantadine however after googling "amantadine" and "ototoxicity" there are many results. Ototoxicity is essentially drug induced hearing loss, which means that i'll probably stay away from trying it, but if anyone here is brave enough to give it a go, then i'd be interested...

Things Sound Sharp, Can Anyone Relate?

This is hypercausis and is probably the worst part, it should fade which will make your T easier to habituate to, the problem with hypercausis is that every sound you hear has this painful metallic ring to it, which spikes the T until that sound is stopped.

Early Signs of Tinnitus After Benzo Use — Tips? Headset Use?

Headphones cause my tinnitus to spike instantly, therefore I don't wear them anymore. Lots of people on here refuse to wear them, however some do with no issues. I think the problem is how close the sound is to your ear compared to listening to music through speakers. As your T is caused by...

What Causes Tinnitus — Conference Attendees' Responses

I have tinnitus with no hearing loss, it started after a birthday party at a night club when I was 15 and never went away till this day (i'm 22 now) and still have no hearing loss. I did have tinnitus before, a few times, but it always went away.

Early Signs of Tinnitus After Benzo Use — Tips? Headset Use?

I would drop the headphone use at least until your T has gone, you don't want to aggravate it, at least not in the early stages.

So, Is Everyone from My Generation Going to Get Tinnitus Eventually?

Most likely, if I managed to get it at 15 then I dread to think what my generation will be like by the time their 40. Although chances are, when everybody is suffering for it, the pharma companies will see dollar signs and sort it out.

Loud Piercing Sound of Iron Spoons and Iron Container

Hey, You haven't had tinnitus long so you're probably just a bit over-anxious and thinking about it is causing your spike, usually with noise induced spikes, they are instant. Try to relax and forget about it.

Has Anybody Tried the Mimi Hearing Test App?

Hey Guys, I was wondering if any of you have tried the Mimi hearing test app. I know it doesn't provide a clinical diagnosis but it would be interesting to see if your results match up to what the ENT have said following your hearing tests and I suppose its a good way to keep an eye on things...

    Define Tinnitus and Habituation

So when you get a random spike for no apparent reason and it returns to normal you assume hearing loss has occured? What about a wax build up in your ear that dislodges itself? Or fluid build up in the middle ear? Or fluid build up in the eustachian tubes?

    Define Tinnitus and Habituation

I'm not sure this is the case, while doing further damage to your hearing is likely to cause your T to be louder, it's totally possible to have a spike that subsides without any damage being done.

    Movies and Ear Plugs

I went to the cinema a few weeks ago and kept an eye on the DB levels, while it sounded pretty loud and did spike to 91db every so often during a gun fight, the average was only 77.8DB. Increased Tinnitus from Slap on the Ear

I am a little frustrated by your negative attitude on every post. Hey Katy, I think that you're getting worked up over this a bit too much, which is probably making your tinnitus louder.
