Sudden Hearing Loss and Tinnitus in One Ear — ENT Put Me on Prednisone 50mg

Well, it's actually coming up on 1 year since I went into my ENT. My tinnitus is still present, but thankfully I am able to go long stretches - hours - without noticing it or thinking about it at all. Sometimes the whole day. I do use a white noise machine at night still, but at this point it's...

Sudden Hearing Loss and Tinnitus in One Ear — ENT Put Me on Prednisone 50mg

I had a very rough night, I think in part due to stress/anxiety from the medication & also today's exam. Today's audiology tests showed no improvement over last week, before starting prednisone. So for now, it did nothing. Further, my ENT thinks that since my hearing loss is pretty mild &...

Do I Need to Visit a Doctor for a Possible Ruptured Eardrum After a Hard Slap on the Ear?

I did the same exact thing earlier this month. I wish I had even done virtual health online so I could be directed to next steps - like seeing an ENT faster. If that is an option go for it.

Prednisone for Idiopathic Unilateral Sudden Hearing Loss

Just bumping this because I took my 7th (final) 50mg Prednisone today. Heading for a follow-up tomorrow morning and want to be armed with info about how others have proceeded. What outcomes have people had with Prednisone to treat idiopathic SSHL, and how have those mapped to next steps on...

Do I Need to Visit a Doctor for a Possible Ruptured Eardrum After a Hard Slap on the Ear?

Go ASAP. Do you have insurance? Do you have an urgent care? If you're in a college, is there a campus health center?

Sudden Hearing Loss and Tinnitus in One Ear — ENT Put Me on Prednisone 50mg

What an odd night. Friday was a pretty low volume/intensity day, and I went to sleep rather easy. Tinnitus actually invaded my dream, became part of it. I was in a taxi ride with friends, me in the rear passenger side seat. My typical high-pitched 'eee' noise begins, and my friend ahead of me...

Had to Go to Bar for Work Meeting. Feel My Ears May Be Worse Even Though I Had Earplugs. Help?

Reference: https://www.mountsinai.org/health-library/supplement/melatonin Steroids and immunosuppressant medications. Melatonin may cause these medication to lose their effectiveness. DO NOT take Melatonin with corticosteroids or other medications used to suppress the immune system.

Sudden Hearing Loss and Tinnitus in One Ear — ENT Put Me on Prednisone 50mg

Well, last night didn't go well and today ain't any better. I didn't get any consistent sleep despite trying a few different masking - white noise machine, nature sounds stuff. And today was bad too. I also had a little bit of a meltdown when I realized that I should've cleared my 1mg Melatonin...

Going to Bed, Dropping onto My Pillow — Result: Ringing in My Ear

Have you had a hearing test done as well? I don't know where you are but a lot of ENT practices in USA had Audiology people as well who will test your ears to see if you have hearing loss (which is what is causing my left-ear tinnitus).

Is It Safe to Take Melatonin and Xanax at the Same Time?

DO NOT take Melatonin with corticosteroids or other medications used to suppress the immune system. Prednisone is a corticosteroid. See here: https://www.mountsinai.org/health-library/supplement/melatonin

Had to Go to Bar for Work Meeting. Feel My Ears May Be Worse Even Though I Had Earplugs. Help?

Please keep in mind Melatonin boosts immune response while Prednisone is an immunosuppressant. Do not mix them, as I'm finding out right now.

Prednisone for Idiopathic Unilateral Sudden Hearing Loss

Feeling like a complete idiot. I didn't even consider that taking Melatonin would impact my Prednisone. I've been sleeping terribly so I happened to start Melatonin alongside Prednisone. I've just found out that Melatonin boosts the immune system and should NOT be taken with Prednisone or other...

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

This is one heck of a thread! I have tried my best to search through it. I was just curious if FX-322 - if the trials prove out - seems promising for idiopathic unilateral sudden hearing loss? There are so many ways we can experience hearing loss and for now mine is not determined. Would be...

My Turn for Your Support — Woke Up with Sudden Hearing Loss and Severe Vertigo

250 mg? What I've seen in literature and from my ENT (USA), it's tied roughly to the patient's weight at 1mg:1kg per day. 250 mg seems wild.

Prednisone for Idiopathic Unilateral Sudden Hearing Loss

Curious what experiences people here have had with taking high-dose prednisone following an idiopathic unilateral sudden hearing loss. I've been on it (50mg 1x/day) a few days, a little less than 2 weeks after waking up one morning with ringing in 1 ear. I went to Primary Care after a week...

Sudden Hearing Loss and Tinnitus in One Ear — ENT Put Me on Prednisone 50mg

Nobody's been responding to these so far, but that's okay, it is therapeutic to write it all down and get it all out anyway. I hadn't mentioned anything to my parents yet, to avoid possibly upsetting them, but I spoke to them last night. As it turns out my father had the same exact thing at...

Sudden Hearing Loss and Tinnitus in One Ear — ENT Put Me on Prednisone 50mg

Hi all, I know this is a kind of stupid thing, but I'm terrible at taking most pills larger than those tiny allergy pills (Cetirizine or whatever). I mentioned this when my ENT prescribed Prednisone, and she suggested that those pills go down easier with Greek yogurt, something thick to cover...

Sudden Hearing Loss and Tinnitus in One Ear — ENT Put Me on Prednisone 50mg

Hi everyone, I have lurked on here since I got a sudden onset of tinnitus in my left ear only 2 Wednesdays ago. I waited a week to see my primary care doctor who said the ear looked a little red, probably early infection, and put me on Amoxicillin. When the ringing didn't go away after a few...
