It's very common with fleeting T. My hearing drops out for a split second, followed by louder than normal T for a few seconds. Happens to me most days, kind of use to it now.

As I Drift Off, I Get Fleeting Tinnitus Shrills

That sounds bad. Since people who have T experience fleeting T a lot more often than people who are healthy, I like to think that fleeting T is my body trying to recalibrate, to adjust and to get rid of T. I embrace it when it happens (and try not to worry about it not fading withing a couple...

I also get that! It's why I learned to love fleeting tinnitus after a while. Well, I dunno if fleeting tinnitus and this "reset" event are the same or two distinct events, they do feel very similar to me - a moment of sudden deafness, either followed by loud temporary tonal tinnitus, or by...

Loud Tone for a Few Seconds — Fleeting / Transient Spontaneous Tinnitus

Maybe this will be encouraging: I did not have fleeting T until I started taking an oral steroid. And when I had the steroid injections, I had constant fleeting T. Sounded like little bells ringing over my usual tinnitus. Since steroids are supposed to help, I tried to think of it as a good sign.

Fleeting tinnitus is a tone in one or both ears that generally lasts 15 seconds give or take. It is almost ubiquitous in the population at large and is of no clinical consequence whatsoever save for the fact that Dr. Jack Vernon observed that fleeting tinnitus, when present, can actually mask...
