    Can Anxiety Cause Tinnitus?

While there's no clear proof yet, it's been proven that people who meditate build up resiliance against anxiety (the ancient part of the brain the controls the Tinnitus response). One ofthe reasons is that it calms the brain down (remember, T is driven by overly excited neurons). Meditation...

    Can Anxiety Cause Tinnitus?

Hi Martin, First, never give me kudos, because I will almost inevitably inundate you with massive amounts of data! :) Seriously, being caught in the fight or flight negative feedback loop is, without question, one of the scariest experiences around. And it's intended to be--the ancient (not...

Sanuthera Receives 510(k) Clearance for Tinnitus Treatment Device

"The FDA clearance comes as Sanuthera concludes a clinical study at the Cleveland Clinic. In the study, more than 85% of tinnitus sufferers using the Serenity device have shown improvement at 1, 3, and 6 months. To indicate results, the study uses the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI), a...

Thank you. I'm guessing there will be no panacea (no one cure), but a combination therapy, no? Seems most likely scenario...

It's always amazed me: we're animals. Yes, we dress, have cultural activities, use thumbs and a bicamberal brain, but at the core of it, we're animals. Animals survived by collaborating. But as "evolved" beings, we've decided that somehow it's every human for themselves. This is inherently not...

Right. I do think there's real potential here. As it is, people (like Danny, others) are making themselves guinea pigs without any proper protocols and a "let's see what happens" approach. Brave, yes. But doesn't make for a realistic trial. It's blue-sky thinking, to be sure, but with soooo many...

Yeah, not sure that likes make a difference really. And as for crowd-funding, it'd need more than "we." Think people like Chris Martin and Pete Townsend--high-profile celebs who suffer from T? Just thinkin' on a Sunday...

Ah, cheers. Well, thing is, there are a lot of "ifs" and other caveats, but crowd-funding could be something to explore, depending on what the the most promising treatment is. As it is, we certainly are at at the mercy of big pharma, in general, and these "next big thing" inventions, specifically.

Retigabine (Trobalt, Potiga) — General Discussion

Interesting. Agreed that outside is very healing; at least, temporarily. Still trying to figure out why certain frequencies terminate T for up to 20 seconds at a time. So, http://www.audionotch.com/app/tune/ at 8234 Hz just seems to make my "high freq" T dissipate rapidly--but only for a short...

Ahhh, nice. I was thinking of Metta mindfulness; that's been something I've been grooming for years now, and it seems especially important now. Any sort of masking/notched therapy??

A cure is coming. They're getting close, having isolated the Potassium channels than govern this shite. Try mindfulness meditation--seriously. It helps people with chronic illness (ancientbrain.net or look up MBSR). These things will not cure anything, but they may change your relationship to...

It's the only thing that enables me to sleep at the moment; just a stabilizer. I will taper off as soon as I am able.

Well, in fairness, it's really not just about one man vs. another, is it? Both have teams of people working with them (although Large's resume/capabilities are quite substantial). To my mind, it's good to have various teams working simultaneously, even if the lead on Team USA is younger and less...

And there it is. Thanks for this. Man, it would be wonderful if there were an app to translate the results. I get the gist, certainly, but would love to see how this works, graphically, or via flow diagram. Question: any luck, personally with RTR or notched therapy? The brain is plastic, after...

Interesting. The mother of invention. Never understood about fight or flight until I needed to learn. Now you can't get me to shut up about it. But to the issue: Autifony is expected to become available within the year-ish?

That's a great point. Here in the states, everything takes forever. So, you are chemistry lad then? I admit that I "glaze over" when thinking about molecular structures. Perhaps we can assign them all names and create a lively story around them? ;) Seriously, though, the potassium channel seems...

Retigabine (Trobalt, Potiga) — General Discussion

Interesting; thanks. More stuff to look up! (Leave it to the Brits--the best music and, apparently, the lead on developing a sustainable solution.) That said, if SciFlour announces trials, I'll raise my hand; the two solutions seems to be related, potentially--at least according to this...

Thanks, DB; appreciate that. I'll look into it. But I'd really like to avoid reliance on too many Rx tools, if at all possible. I'm only on Klonopin to enable sleep (my Fight or Flight reflex doesn't care if I know what's happening, it still loves to wake me up after a couple of hours, just to...

Interesting. I was on Klonopin for extreme anxiety (pretty much thought I was dying, but it was just somaticization disorder--something to this day no one has been able to say outright). I tapered myself off, without any issues, over a period of, well, a year, basically. Stopped fully two months...

    Can Anxiety Cause Tinnitus?

As someone who has had low-grade Tinnitus for decades (ignored, largely) only to have it spike/evolve in the past few weeks after a health scare, I can personally attest that anxiety has, for me, at least, a direct connection to Tinnitus. A few weeks ago I found myself freaking out about mercury...

SF0034: a less toxic, more targeted variant of retigabine? I've only recently started researching this topic, but I found it interesting that Hearing Today wrote the following in June 2015 about findings from Retigabine reseearchers: In 2013, Tzingounis began collaborating with Thanos...

Can Anyone Identify What's Going On?

It's likely the fight or flight response. The Tinnitus can trigger the brain's ancient survival mechanism, and it can wreak havoc on your system. It's not life-threatening. It's just your lizard brain preparing to fight a non-existent enemy. In my experience with anxiety (separate from T), I've...
