Are WNGs Bought Online Supposed to Be Somehow Adjusted by a Professional?

Hi Valeri. I got my WNG for free via the NHS. The volume is adjustable and I was told to set it in the morning so that the white noise just starts to mix in with my tinnitus and then not to change it again during the day. I assumed that all WNGs were the same ie. adjusted by the user. John

Your Thyroid Can Make Your Ears Ring!

Hi. Thought I'd just add my story to the thread. I'd had very low level tinnitus for maybe 20 years. I could go weeks without noticing it. Then last year my Dr said my thyroid levels were low and he thought I would benefit from medication so he started me on 25mg thyroxin even though I'd not...

    Tinnitus Pitch and Loudness Matching

I've tried to determine the pitch of my T with the AudioNotch tuner thing. I think it's about 7000khz but I'm not sure. I find that I can't hear any tones above about 10000khz. I was wondering if it's possible for the pitch of your T to be above that which you can physically hear? So if I was an...

Hi want to introduce myself, have low humming

Lana, the high pitched whistle bothers me the most. It's much louder and is always there, though on good days it's more of a softer hiss than a whistle and then it's much easier to deal with. The hum is only there now and then and it's not so loud. John

Standing at the gates of tinnitus

Hi Darren. Don't know about Diazepam but the anesthetic (lidocaine) they inject you with to numb you up is supposed to suppress the T for a while. Hope it works for you :) John

Hi want to introduce myself, have low humming

Hi Lana. Yes I get a low humming as well. My main tinnitus started a couple of months ago and it's a loud high pitched whistle. Over the last few weeks though I've started to get a low hum on and off. It's a bit like having a beehive in my head. Unlike my other sound, I only really notice the...

    Hi All

Hi. I'm John. I'm 62. I've had tinnitus for a long time - maybe 20 years now but until recently it has been at a very low level. Most of the time I didn't notice and I could go weeks at a time and never think about it. Then earlier his year I started a course of Levothyroxine for an underactive...

Notched Music Therapy (DIY, AudioNotch, etc.)

I've had bad tinnitus since mid August and I've just found this forum. I've been playing around with notched music the last couple of days and it seems to me it's a sinch to produce on a Windows PC using Audacity (free and open source) as it has a notch filter built in. You just open your music...
