BUT...
"Scary" is the important word here!
Ear pain = Hyperacusis;
Fear = Phonophobia;
I think you have just anxiety and obssession over your T.
My advice:
Don't overprotect your ears from everyday sounds!
That little dip is the cause of your T, in other words NOISEEE.
Do some HF hearing test (up to 20kHz), you'll be amazed!
And no more death metal I guess... I prefere now Classical music
