Hey people,
I feel the best instrument we have for hyperacusis right now are plain old foam earplugs. They block out all frequencies well compared to other solutions such as filtered earplugs or noise cancelling headphones.
I know a drug based solution may be far away as the ear structure is...
There is no 50/50 balance. Tailor your response to the situation & how your ears feel. Also its near impossible to know exactly when to protect and when not to. Sound is SOO unpredictable. Just keep doing your best.
Good luck in your journey. Best I can say is protect your ears in objectively loud places going forwards & focus on your life as a whole. Focus on only problems you can fix if a further ENT appt isn't helpful
On another note. The only earplugs that fit my ear! The Slim Howard Leight ones fit. Do you know where i can buy similar slim earplugs in either black or a darker colour? (other than the orange and yellow colours i know they offer) I would prefer a dark colour as i use them daily when leaving...
I haven’t found any. I know that noise cancelling headphones and earbuds do the job and they make your voice not sound loud in your head but they have a slight’ pressure’ sensation.
Similar thing happened to me ... about 2 years ago.
Still got tinnitus, still can't pop my ears, still sensitive to dishes and all that crap.
Was also told by GP it could go away but ENT told the truth that there's no cure and they have no idea what will happen. They advised therapy and that...
Severity matters the most. But the title is about mild to moderate. And in my own opinion and experience mild can be coped with well as it's not intrusive hence why it's mild and moderate can be coped with okay but its more difficult. I'm just saying that the wildly different mindsets and...
Yes. Really depends on the person though. Some people are fighters other people give up. For example the same person may loose their right arm. 1 may get adapt in a year. The other might continue to think back on the situation over and over. It's difficult to change the mindset, which is the...
I have hyperacusis but I barely struggle with social events. That's not because the noise sensitivity has gone away ... it's because I don't go to them.
I have huge occlusion effect holding conversation with earplugs in. Ringing also gets louder, I don't know the OP's situation but, I know this option wasn't helpful for me in the past
Agreed. I want to see results. They use fairly vague terms about tinnitus improvement. Worst thing would be to pay all that money and not see the kind of change you hoped for. Fingers crossed we'll hear positive things!
Haha. I wouldn't trust a random article predicting a date for a cure. I think People just use 5-10 years because it sounds long term and conservative. In 2030 the cure for tinnitus will probably be 5-10 years away aswell lol.
I want to do something about my tinnitus now!
Would using a shock pen in the nerves in my neck and a signal timing app be able to mimic somewhat the results of this trial?
