Did you consider extraction? They told me they'd have to drill and split the tooth, so I figured I might as well try to save it. The first part of the root canal shouldn't be too bad—they'll open the tooth with a laser. It's the crown prep that worries me, but that's in a later appointment, so...

That must have been loud to grind down the molar? I have to do a root canal on my lower second molar and I'm absolutely panicking about the drill I found a laser dentist that can partially open the tooth but some drilling is still going to be needed hopefully it's reduced enough... Tinnitus Spike After Dental Filling Replacement with Laser and Drilling

Mostly, there is one tone that is still louder than usual. I’ve also been on Amoxicillin antibiotics afterward, so that might have contributed to the worsening. I wasn’t able to get the root canal done with the laser as planned—they changed their mind at the last minute. I’m seriously worried...

Tinnitus Spike After Dental Filling Replacement with Laser and Drilling

I’m going to have a root canal done using a laser called Solea, so they will not need to drill to open the tooth. I most likely will not get a crown, so if the root canal fails, I will just have the tooth extracted. Fortunately, the laser is strong enough to split the tooth in half, which means...

Tinnitus Spike After Dental Filling Replacement with Laser and Drilling

I used Peltor X5A earmuffs on my last visit. I think I am going to get an extraction for the second tooth that is hurting. At least if I get an implant in the future, that tooth would never need drilling again.

Tinnitus Spike After Dental Filling Replacement with Laser and Drilling

Another tooth is starting to hurt. It looks like I might need either a root canal or an extraction this time. The dentist says the tooth may be dying. I am having a hard time deciding which option to choose. A root canal would involve a lot of drilling, and since it is a molar, it would likely...

Tinnitus Spike After Dental Filling Replacement with Laser and Drilling

There are still no signs of improvement. I have some Prednisolone—19 pills at 20 mg each—but the expiration date is April 2021. I am unsure if they are still effective. Unfortunately, obtaining more from a doctor will not be easy. It seems to be just a spike. I am not noticing any changes in my...

Dental Drill or Dental Laser for Cavities: What's Best and Safest for Tinnitus Sufferers?

I chose earmuffs because of the oscillation effect. I wasn’t too sure—putting in earplugs seemed too risky, but going unprotected also felt unsafe. I chose the middle ground. Either way, I still got a nasty spike from just 30 seconds of drilling, so I don’t think it would have mattered.

    Tinnitus Worse After Tooth Drilling

How are you doing now? I am also experiencing a spike after a visit to the dentist. There wasn’t much drilling — around 30 seconds in total, with 5-second pauses, using an electric drill. I wore earmuffs during the drilling, but I am not sure if that made things better or worse. The bone...

Tinnitus Spike After Dental Filling Replacement with Laser and Drilling

So, I just had my fillings replaced. The dentist was able to remove them with a laser, but some drilling—approximately 30 seconds to a minute—was still needed at the end. I asked him to use a five-seconds-on, five-seconds-off approach, and he followed that. He also used an electric drill, which...

I’ve lost my sense of smell for the last three days, and I’m very worried. I can’t smell anything, and I really hope the chances of getting it back are high. I don’t think I can handle both tinnitus and the loss of smell—it’s just too much for one person to bear.

So, I went to see a dentist who does laser treatment today. He's not sure yet if it's a cavity or the filling...

One other thing to consider is that a filling doesn't seem to be a permanent solution. Newest Dentist Visit Recommendations for a Person with Pre-Existing Tinnitus / Hyperacusis?

If I understand correctly, there's no way to prevent the bone conduction noise. I was told that the drill used for implants is a lower RPM than the one used for drilling and is less noisy. Is this true? Apparently, it's only 1K RPM vs. 300K RPM for the normal drills. That's a massive...

I have a filling that needs to be redone due to a cavity. I had that feeling done last year with a dentist who used a laser, but it looks like he didn't do a good job. The dentist I went to today said if I leave it like that, I'll probably need a root canal within a few weeks. The tooth is...
