You ever been to one of these classes? I hear other group classes can have very loud music as well. What is it about loud music? Why people don't get it that hearing once lost is lost forever?

It's deeply ingrained in people's mind (and even some medical staff) that hearing loss only occurs in the elderly and that it takes years of abusing your ears to have a noticable impairment. It really doesn't. All it takes is a single exposure bad enough and you'll have symptoms for life.

They also don't know that pain and tinnitus can be a byproduct of hearing damage. Ask a teenager why he is listening to music at full volume. He'll tell you he doesn't mind if he is going to ear a little bit worse in their seventies. Little do they know it will happen way faster then they think.
