Anyone Had Tinnitus from Ear Canal Trauma?

Hello,
I would like to know can a trauma to ear canal cause permanent tinnitus. I had an injury to my ear canal and out of nowhere ringing came to my ears from the next day onwards.

Anyone experienced this before?
