Approval of First Gene Therapy to Treat Inherited Disease

The FDA just approved a gene therapy treatment which is apparently the first approved treatment that actually corrects a genetic defect. The big issue is likely to be price. Although it may not be an inherited disease, but earlier this year, the FDA has approved the first-ever gene therapy for leukemia. The quoted cost per patient was $475,000.
