Planning to remodel bathroom. Currently shower has plastic pan that is quite loud when water hits it. Thinking going with a tile shower floor might help quiet it down.

Has anyone thought about a remodel through their "tinnitus lens?"

Just don't do the job yourself and you'll be okay :)

Tiles are quiet but after 10 years they'll start bringing the adjacent rooms down.

A shower with a heavy ceramic floor tub without too much air underneath will last longer and be less noisy than plastic.

However, the built in pipes can make a metallic noise when water runs through.

Tiles are absolutely highest comfort regarding noise and for the elderly people.

As @Elmer B Fuddled said, the metal drain should be small vents and into a corner for both shower comfort and noise.
