      Hey all,

I use 0.625mg Xanax distributed by the day, with 5mg of Valium before my sleep.

I wonder if it's ok to have chamomile tea in my routine: I am trying to substitute coffee for teas in general.

I read that chamomile and benzos can interact due to their action on GABA, so I am not sure taking some chamomile tea under this treatment is a wise move or if I am just being paranoid.

Your opinions on this? Is it safe to use chamomile tea under this treatment of benzos?

Yes. chamomile is safe. Benzos carry their own risks, but I'm sure you already know that.

At the most it would probably just make you drowsier.

      Thank you.

I guess my main motivation for this post is that I had somedays ago a streak of 10 fleeting tinnitus episodes in less than 1 hour, and this was in the same day I took some chamomile tea. It never happened to me before, and it did not happen after that (but also I didn't take more chamomile tea). I wonder if it was just a coincidence or is there any causality in this interaction...

It seems much more likely to me that it was coincidence. The only possible interaction I can see is if the other drugs you are taking are metabolized by CYP1A2. In which case inhibition of this enzyme could increase the blood concentration of the drug, but neither of the other drugs you are taking are metabolized by this enzyme.

Benzos on the other hand... all bets are off. They have been known to cause tinnitus when discontinuing them.

I also use Zoloft (100mg). I don't know if this enzyme has influence over it. I will check arriving home.

This T from discontinuing benzos is something temporary? I heard a little about this before. I will try to taper off benzos slowly... I am under them for 4 months, I wonder if I've gone far.

Camomile tea is mild. I would speak to your doctor about the concoction of meds you are on. An AD and 2 different benzos seems a lot so maybe best to check with them.
