Cause of Tinnitus
Loud noise
Hello, I'm new to the forum. I have had tinnitus (predominately left side) since 1969 as the result of being in a high school rifle club (I doubt that exists anymore), shooting 22's without ear protection, basically in a concrete bunker in the basement of the school. I don't think my Koss headset and rock n Roll helped much either! I was evaluate at the University of Minnesota in 1974 and was basically told there was nothing they could do. I'm not interested in masking it, however, I am interested in solid research. Looking forward to exploring the site.

Welcome. That's a mighty long time! How have you coped all that time? Has it recently gotten worse that you only now come to the forums? How loud is it or when do you hear it?

There's a lot of promising research being done on inner ear regeneration and bimodal stimulation of which the Lenire device is the first iteration. I'm sure you'll have a lot to read up on.

How have you managed since then? I've had tinnitus for two years and it feels like most of my life.

Welcome to the forum...

I hope you can find some helpful info, find some support, understanding, and perhaps a few laughs here and there.

See you around Nelsonjer.

I have also had tinnitus since high school in 1969. Its a solitary condition, but once I understood it wasn't going away, I decided to keep it at the edge of my life. I never talk about it, but its louder lately, about like somebody talking softly, so I googled how other people deal with it and found this forum.
