Recently, I've developed an extremely frustrating hearing distortion where many people's voices sound metallic, or as if the person is speaking through a kazoo. Music also sounds off for the most part. Some songs sound fine, but others sound out of tune, and occasionally some sound like pure chaos. This is present in both of my ears.
At first, it was accompanied by extreme pressure in my ears, but that went away after I used anti-inflammatory ear drops. I've spoken with both my family doctor and an ER doctor, and neither knows what it could be. They both confirmed that my ears look healthy on the inside, and the ER doctor said it's something that would likely resolve on its own, although I'm not too sure.
I had a hearing test that came back fine. My results were within the normal hearing range, the pressure in my ears was normal, and they confirmed that the inside of my ears looked healthy. Recently, I've also developed very mild tinnitus in my right ear when I lie down, but I think that might be from pulling my neck while trying to stretch it.
Does anyone know what could be causing hearing distortion like this when everything else seems fine? My family doctor is referring me to an ENT specialist, but who knows how long that'll take.
