Sudden Increase of Tinnitus After My Father Passed Away

Hi there, I'm new to this forum. I have hearing loss due to genetics. I had quiet tinnitus in the past.

Two weeks ago my father passed away and since then the tinnitus has been loud and annoying. Will it go away? Is it as a result of stress?

I would suggest that your recent spike is as a result of stress. It should settle down with time.

I got tinnitus around the same time my grandma passed away; we were very close and it affected me badly. However, in the months preceding tinnitus I was exposed to a lot of loud music and a few times my ears felt off/distorted. I've also had a lot of loud headphone use over the years since college. Since my tinnitus is very somatic, I'm not sure if it is noise induced (but my tinnitus has reacted to noise like balloon pop sounds where I would get a new tone but went away later). I wouldn't be surprised if my grandma's passing set off the tinnitus and I have continued to have around the same type of tinnitus since.
