Hi there. I'm 54 and have had tinnitus since I have had conscious memory. When I was a little girl, I asked my grandmother "what songs does your head play?" You'd think someone in my family would have investigated that further lol.....Anyway, I have up to 4 tones going on at any one time. Interestingly, I decided to give a chiropractor a try since I was having some neck pain and after two adjustments, I am down to two tones. I do not think I'll ever be rid of the main and loudest tone but am enjoying the reprieve.

Yes. I struggle every day. I was worked up for an acoustic neuroma which was negative. And now that I am in my 50's I have a sensory processing disorder in that I am overly sensitive to background noises in environment that no one even pays attention to.......refrigerator hums, newspaper crinkles, people who have repetitive coughs or throat clearing tics make me want to scream. I think since I've dealt with tinnitus my whole life, my brain processing has just said ENOUGH and is now very sensitive. I function fine - I teach nursing at a university, work per diem as a nurse and am working on my PhD, so life goes on. Sometimes I wish I were deaf - but I realize the tinnitus would likely still be there. I'd love to be in a clinical treatment trial if anyone ever hears about one. Has anyone on this forum had anything that has worked? This am I am back to three tones, had been down to two for a few days which was nice.
