ETD/ Noise exposure
Hi guys, new to the forum, I've had tinnitus for about a year and I have smoked weed for around 4 years at least once a month. Usually I had noticed that my tinnitus would spike a bit after smoking but yesterday i smoked and tried to go to bed and as soon as I was trying to sleep this feeling would come over me and the tinnitus would envelope my entire head, spiking to unbearable levels and getting horrendously loud. Weird thing is that it would spike if I only "let it spike", and I just got caught in a cycle of forcing it to increase by thinking about it as it was very difficult to not think about. This morning I woke up and if I thought of it it kept getting worse, but as soon as I got out of the bed and left my house for Uni it feels like it's only slightly louder than what it used to be.

Any opinions on what could have happened? Or if it will happen tonight again as now I'm petrified of trying to sleep in case it envelopes my entire head again. But I'm sure it was because I was high and positively enforcing tinnitus by thinking about it and focusing on it.

Do you think it was caused by the weed high and since it increases mental activity it was just causing the nerve impulses to occur more!

Some more info:
- I wasn't listening to loud music
- My tinnitus is normally maskable by certain background noises such as loud convo etc
- Yesterday I was talking to my girlfriend while trying to sleep with my tinnitus spiking and while I was talking it was so loud it felt like a speaker blaring in my head.

Some positive talk would be really appreciated as I'm feeling so anxious about it.

Thank you.

seems like it was a combination of things that would explain this massive spike. Weed obviously spikes it. I think anxiety is too since its effected when you think about it. Plus waking up can spike it because of inflammation. When you get out of bed and move your body, that wake up inflammation drops

ANY drug for me, I mean ANY even the most subtle baby Aspirin or even a multivitamin seem to increase my T. I tried weed once and it took my T to a 9 for a short period of time then back to baseline. My suggestion is to avoid putting any type of drug into your body if you want the T to stay at baseline.
