Hello, my name is Joseph.
A couple of months ago, in the middle of the day, I started feeling sick. I had body aches, a fever, and chills throughout the night. The next morning, I felt better, but I noticed a slight ringing in my left ear. At first, I was not too concerned and assumed it was due to a viral infection that would eventually go away. However, the ringing continued for three weeks and progressively got worse.
I finally went to see a doctor and was referred to an ENT. The hearing test revealed slight hearing loss in my left ear. I was prescribed steroids. By day four, the ringing began to fade, but on day five it returned and started to change in tone. For the past five weeks, all I hear is a high-pitched "EEEEE!"
At first, I read a lot about tinnitus. Most advice said to stay calm and accept it. That is easier said than done when the sound is constant and impossible to mask. I try to stay busy and distracted, but it is always there. I have an MRI scheduled and an appointment with my neurologist.
I hope everyone wakes up tomorrow and finally experiences some peace.
