im a 59 year old retired builder, I have noise induced tinnitus a very loud constant hissing in both ears, it never changes, and it's remained this way since 15th may 1990. So 26 years in now! it's not a problem for me anymore since I'm well habituated to the noise. I come onto this site to offer advise and to encourage the people who are struggling to cope, as I was myself in the beggining. I think so long as your able to get a good nights sleep, and to keep busy, keeping your mind occupied is a big step forward to coping with T. I know all about the depths it can take us too! I was on my knees back in 1990, I too thought I'd never be able to cope with it, these days it's still there the same as it was back then, but it doesn't bother me at all now, I don't drink, I don't need any meds, I have a cup of hot chocolate before bed and that does it for me, I sleep soundly. It just takes a little time to habituate to the noise! once that takes place it's much easier to cope. This just happens naturally after a few months up to a year in my case. I've a great happy life! even with the T it only blights people's lives if they allow it too. I'm a positive person and I was determined from day one never to give in to it. Life's there for living, and that's what I do. NEVER GIVE UP FOLKS, IT DOES GET MUCH EASIER OVER TIME.Interact
