    Tinnitus Since:
    06/2013
I'm a 20 yr old law student at university. My tinnitus started in July 2013 with a sudden onset of ringing in my left ear which lasted for more than the usual 5 seconds. I was immediately anxious and booked an appointment with my GP. She diagnosed an ear infection and prescribed an antibiotic ear spray. It cleared up the infection but over a month afterwards the tinnitus remains and fluctuates and is different in each ear. Nights are especially bad, and it's so hard to cope and stay positive at times. The only comfort is that it isn't ever constant - I always have some sort of relief after a while before another attack of ringing comes on. This is the case for now at least. I was seen by a tinnitus specialist who basically said the usual - there's no cure, don't worry about it, don't let it dictate your life. Easy for him to say. Some days are worse than others. I can go a week without worrying much then suddenly be incredibly depressed. I hear about people who have become used to their tinnitus and am aiming to have an attitude like this, but since it's early days for me I still feel very depressed and struggle to see how my future looks with this condition.
