@SarahMLFlemmer, I got to sleep about 4 am today and woke up to nasty static primarily in my left ear. I seemed fine last night. I will probably have the left jaw surgery to see if it quiets down that side. Life is short and I don’t wan’t to wake up to this static every day. I do wear Widex hearing aids at times.

They seemed to help a lot today. I have the Widex Zen Moment. You have to get them programmed by your hearing aid provider. They cost about $3,000. It’s a bit involved programming because of the background sounds and the hearing amplification. All done through a computer.

My noise came back upon awakening (broken record). I will try the Flonase and EarPopper again. It doesn’t physically hurt but is very loud.

I still have bad awakening tinnitus. I’m not sure if left TMJ surgery will cure it. Mayo Rochester wants to do another CT scan.

@SarahMLFlemmer, Mayo Rochester tends to be conservative regarding surgeries. When I tore my ACL years ago they had me wearing a brace. I later had ACL reconstruction done elsewhere as my knee was popping out too often. I just woke up with significant noise in my left ear. I’m not sure what Mayo Rochester will do. Doctor in Arkansas thinks surgery is necessary but he would be out of network.

Don't wear a helmet when you ride your motorcycle, it's to heavy on your neck. Just some foam earplugs with a bandana to keep them secure. Dangerous, but you'll look cool. I hope your feeling better my friend, I know your struggling. Praying for you, we all are

@Daniel Lion, Thank you my friend. The hissing is blaring in my left ear and I don’t like it. I was suppose to hear from the TMJ surgeon from Mayo Rochester by now. I don’t think he’ll do anything even with a referral. I’m trying my mouthpiece with no results. Left TMJ doesn’t hurt much but is abnormal.

No. There is no good reason why you should not always use a proper helmet when on a motorcycle. A helmet saved my life when I T-boned a car that had stalled in the middle of an intersection. You have NO protection on a motorcycle w/o a helmet on, and they don't put too much strain on your neck. That doesn't happen.

@gameover, My left ear didn’t get much better today. Right now my left ear has a loud electronic sound that is very unpleasant. I can’t really function well enough to work on my projects. TMJ surgeon in Arkansas thinks my bone on bone left TMJ is causing my noise. He said Dr. Jonathan Fillmore at Mayo Rochester is capable of replacing my TMJ with a prosthetic.

@gameover, You could have your TMJ checked out in your worst affected ear. I can make my left side crunch but it still functions well for eating. I thought originally my tinnitus was from an airplane barotrauma years ago that caused fluid in my left ear. I hope we both can rid ourselves of this tormenting condition. My noise is about talking volume atm.
