The insides of my cheeks are worn down from how much I chew on them, an anxious thing I've always done. I relate so hard to this lol

I knew I shouldn't have opened my window for my cat. I don't know if the firecracker was really that loud but it def startled me

        kingsfan
My tinnitus has been spiked up to an unbearable level since yesterday.

I really didn't think the firecracker was at a dangerous volume since it was around the corner, through the window, and across the street in the neighbor's yard.

Hopefully it's just my anxiousness from the whole ordeal making it temporarily worse, and it will go back down.

Last week I walked out back late at night and in the distance a firework was launched. Loud enough to startle me but not loud enough to cause damage I don’t think. Hard for me to tell if it spiked since my T fluctuates constantly. I’m hoping your spike goes soon though.

I habituated to the mild tinnitus I had, but the severe stuff is another beast. The electrical hiss is bad enough, but I really hate the days with the high pitched piercing single tone. It cycles between them over a day or two, but sometimes changing back and forth during a single day.

@ECP Yea I've thought about it. I had a sink mat when I had my own apartment, but I was dumping the water out in the bathroom sink attached to my room. I had been trying to wear my earplugs less in the house but I've gone back to wearing them when doing anything with dishes or cleaning.

I go through phases wear I wear protection in the kitchen and bathroom, and phases where I don't (and then I regret it). And I just noticed that there aren't any sink mats on Amazon for bathrooms, only kitchens, because nobody but T and H sufferers would be interested, LOL. People like us will have to get creative and make our own, or trim the kitchen mats to size. I hope you're feeling better today.

@cjbhab I'm starting to think earplugs don't do much but worsen H over time. My T has only gotten worse over time despite wearing protection religiously and so has my sound sensitivity. Nothing spiked my T when I first had it except rigorous physical activity, and I didn't wear hearing protection for the first month or two. Now every little things spikes it.

I always hear SSDI is very difficult to get for a condition like this. Even for mental health, you have to show a history of treatment and documentation from your dr that you aren't able to work, then usually need a lawyer and still maybe wait for 2 years. It's an injustice to those people. I know it's been discussed in a thread on Tinnitus Talk.
