Seven Months with Sound-Induced Tinnitus: Is Anyone Seeing Improvements or Finding Hope?

Yeah, I get it. I had that a lot too. Now I’ve accepted that it’s not going away, so I might as well live my life again. It’s hard to say because my tinnitus is not constant. I have five or six different tones, and they all come and go. The volume also changes, sometimes it’s very loud, and...

Ear Pressure and Pain After a Restroom Hand Dryer and Child Screaming

I know you’ve had this condition for a while, and that you know yourself better than anyone. But is there even the slightest chance that the radiating pain comes from clenching your jaw due to the stress that sounds cause?

Seven Months with Sound-Induced Tinnitus: Is Anyone Seeing Improvements or Finding Hope?

I got tinnitus about 1.5 years ago, and I started seeing the first signs of improvement after beginning Clonazepam, following 10 months of pure hell with loud tinnitus. Now, at 1.5 years, I still have it, but I have a lot of hope for the future, and it doesn’t bother me nearly as much anymore. I...

Is Your Tinnitus Quieter First Thing in the Morning?

Mine is often louder when I wake up, then it calms down within ten minutes to an hour after waking. If I wake up in the middle of the night, it can be extremely loud. I have TMJD, so that’s probably the reason why.

My Hearing Has Slightly Improved Since 2019

I have the same thing, and for me, I attribute it to a general lack of auditory input since I overprotect a lot. The more I panic about it, the more the sounds stick in my head. If you can, try to distract yourself from it, or gradually introduce a bit more background noise around you and see if...

Also, quick update: my hyperacusis has gone down to the point I feel comfortable listening to cars passing outside again. Spikes are very short-lived now, at most 3 days compared to the 2 months it used to take. I sleep so much better and it helps a lot

Today I saw a great ENT who told me that recovering from hyperacusis is like recovering from surgery. It takes time, and everyone is different. He told me I was right to protect, that I should continue to do so until I feel comfortable moving to the next step. When I mentioned that other ENT...

Right-Sided Low-Frequency Tinnitus: Suspected Vascular or Somatic Origin with Vacation-Linked Relief

When I wake up, my jaw feels tight. Because of that, it was pretty easy for me to recognize that I have TMJ. In addition to that, I experience jaw pain, limited mouth opening, hyperacusis, ear pain, and jaw spasms where my mouth suddenly opens—those are very painful. For now, I try to relieve...

Struggling with a New Tinnitus Tone After Noise Exposure: Can It Get Better Two Months Later?

Hello, I do not take it regularly. I only use it during very difficult periods, and I usually take 0.25 to 0.5 mg every three days, one to three hours before sleeping. I have never taken it for more than two weeks.

Struggling with a New Tinnitus Tone After Noise Exposure: Can It Get Better Two Months Later?

Hello, my longest spike lasted for three to four months. I got it after going to a restaurant. During those three months, my tinnitus was extremely loud and constantly changing. I thought it was going to be permanent, but after three months, and after starting Clonazepam, it finally went down...
