What makes it frustrating is that I can expose to sounds no problem, and then a few hours after or even in the morning I'll know if it was too much and if I'll spike or have a hyperacusis warning. Makes it SUPER hard to know how and when exposure is successful

I've talked to my psychiatrist. What i'm going to do is take clonazepam a bit more frequently for 1 month (0.25mg or 0.5mg every 3-4 days for a month). Since it works well on my tinnitus and hyperacusis, he suspects that clonazepam might calm my nerves enough to allow me to wean off protections...

Yesterday was a great day I had almost 0 pain and tinnitus was very low. I over did with digital audio it and today it's spiking badly. I am genuinely fed up with this, my life felt so normal and great yesterday, just for it to be bad again the next day. I don't care if the tinnitus gets worse...

@in_the_shadows the setback subsided ! It was very unstable for 2 weeks, almost 3. I shielded myself from sounds and took clonazepam. I believe the clonazepam nuked the crisis because I took one on last Thursday and a few hours after the spike was gone and has been gone for a week. Unfortunately...

I'm having a huge spike. My hyperacusis has been insanely sensitive, to the point I have nausea when exposed to sounds. My ears feel weird, it's painful but at the same time it's not. I'm not sure if I removed protections too quickly as it happened the night after a discord call. Going to see...

@in_the_shadows oh I know about RonnieSpector, thanks for reminding me ! Yeah the spike has been hard on me, it's my first one in 8 months. It's already getting a bit better after 3days though, and I have my emergency clonazepam which helps tremendously. Trying to stay as calm as possible...

Struggling Between Protection and Exposure: Finding Balance After Overprotecting from Tinnitus and Hyperacusis

Thanks a lot for your answer, it is really informative and it matches what I am currently experiencing. I am dealing with hearing fatigue and a setback in my hyperacusis, most likely from being on calls with my friends too much and from not sleeping correctly. So I am back to protecting and...

Hi! It's so nice to hear from someone with a similar experience! Yeah, my tinnitus is very unpredictable too, as well as my hyperacusis. Lately, I was doing great. I even went to a friend's house and wore just loop earplugs and nothing happened. For me, my reactive tinnitus got better, but the...

Struggling Between Protection and Exposure: Finding Balance After Overprotecting from Tinnitus and Hyperacusis

As some of you might know, I’ve had tinnitus for a year and a half now, and I’ve been overprotecting for at least a year. At first, wearing hearing protection most of the time really helped me, and my tinnitus improved a lot. But now I feel like I should start removing them gradually. I miss not...

Is Hitting Earmuff Cups Dangerous to Hearing/Tinnitus?

This happens to me all the time. My tinnitus has never gotten worse because of it. Rarely, I experience some brief tinnitus, but that might happen only once or twice a year, even though I bump my earmuffs daily.

In one month I made great progress! I'm able to go out with just my ear muffs, and not double protection, again. Most every day noises are tolerable again. It's still not great, but it's progress. My tinnitus however is still pretty reactive and can get VERY loud after just simple conversations...

    SAGE Therapeutics — CNS Disorders

5 to 10 years IF things go well, of course, because it might also never happen 😉 Apparently it is. Although, given the very small number of participants, it might be considered an early Phase 2 or Phase 2a.

Tinnitus Gets Worse When Trying to Nap/Sleep

It depends. Usually, it does not change much. If I take a full nap cycle of about one to one and a half hours, it quiets down. If I nap for 40 minutes to an hour, there is no change. If I nap for less than that, it does get worse temporarily, but I avoid such short naps because I feel too tired...
