I have had some success trying your technique. However, I can't get an effect from it if my T is loud. In fact, nothing much works then other than just waiting until it returns to a lower volume (sometimes a few days).

I had a crown done within the last week and found that the novacaine suppressed my tinnitus. Has anyone else experienced that? I didn't have any the whole time I was numb, and it was also much lighter the next day it's now returned to baseline). I wondered about connections between the nerves...

I have it periodically, usually when I lie down. Sometimes, the causes can be pretty benign. My doc thought it was due to the fluid in my ear. I started taking some decongestants, and it hasn't come back. Did your physician have an opinion about the cause?
