Is it possible to adjust to hyperacusis or is managing it the best we can do? I have been wearing earplugs a lot and it's gotten to the stage now where voices seem incredibly loud. Concerned that soon I'll just be stuck at home in silence.

@Contrast I wear earplugs as muffs as I have noise induced tinnitus with mild hearing loss at high frequencies. I don’t want to make the T worse so I wear plugs and muffs when out and about. Does that make sense? Stupid to do?

I agree with @dpdx - nightclubs are truly awful environments whether one has tinnitus or not. I have been to a few post tinnitus onset and never enjoyed them as I would have liked due to being constantly obsessed with the noise levels
