- Tinnitus Since:
- 2013
- Cause of Tinnitus:
- Acoustic Trauma from loud concerts.
I got my tinnitus from going to loud metal, hardcore, and punk shows for the last 20 years. I love live shows and moshing with friends. I would come home from shows with ringing, but the next day it would be gone.
Around 2013 or 2014 I had to start sleeping with a fan to mask the light ringing I could only hear in a silent room. I still went to shows with no hearing protection and never thought twice about it.
In May of 2021 I woke up one morning to hear a much louder sound that I could hear over the TV and the fan I used to sleep with. It has not subsided and I fear this is the new norm. I am currently doing tinnitus retraining therapy to hopefully help me habituate and get back to some sense of normalcy. Hoping for a cure, but in the
meantime just doing what I can to manage this new sound.Interact
