I've been playing in rock bands for nearly 30 years and one of my favourite pastimes has always been going to live music shows, so unsurprisingly, I have experienced accoustic tinnitus for a long time.
However, last year I noticed a new tone. Unlike the "hiss" of my music related tinnitus, this new addition is more like a high pitched screech, predominantly in my left ear.
It's so intrusive and sharp that it physically feels like being poked in the ear with a needle. I noticed it shortly after I hit my head and got a concussion. I have sought medical help, had a hearing test and MRI but so far it has been a dead end road.
The psychological effects are affecting my personal and professional life and I even find it difficult to enjoy music anymore. I'm desperate to identify the cause so I can begin to mange the symptoms more effectively. I'm so glad to have found a group who may be able to share some of their experiences with me.
