Don't miss the opportunity to attend Tinnitus Quest's online Q&A with Dr. Susan Shore and Jon Pearson, CEO of Auricle on October 13. We will hear the latest about the Susan Shore Device.
Are you going to use any ear protection, like noise reducing earplugs? That way you could still hear people talk but noises (including that of AC) would be reduced by around 20db.
I won't because the nature of my reactive tinnitus is a bit different than most people here.
If I use ear plugs, given that the noise still enters the ear even if by less decibels, it will still react and I'm going to hear the tinnitus even louder because everything is more silent.
So I will hear the sounds that trigger the reactivity softer but the reactivity will be as loud.
Also, last time I used musician ear plugs and I heard music, I could hear how some notes made my ear do some beeping sounds, something I don't hear without ear plugs or when I'm in silence, which I found it weird.
Do you have one ear that is more sensitive/reactive than the other? If so, you could try plugging the 'bad' ear completely and leaving the better one open?
That could help at first as your ears adjust to work sounds?
