Tinnitus for 3 Years, Still Struggling and Need Advice

I had major problems sleeping in the first few months. I was on one or two temazepam tablets a day and sleeping a rough 3-5 hours a night. I weaned myself off slowly, and by six months in I was sleeping better than I ever had before. Now my head hits the pillow, I hear the T like a loud siren...

    3 Years and Still Alive

I am nearly two years in, and most of that has happened to me also. I'm fitter, stronger and better than I was before the T came into my life. Still, sometimes when it is quiet and I hear the signal, I can't quite say I have reached complete equanimity with it. I also don't hear it in the...

It's My 2 Year Anniversary — There Is Hope!

I agree with this. I'm 18 months in and sleep better now than before I had T. Even though it is very quiet when my head hits the pillow and the T is nice and loud, within a few minutes I fall asleep and get a consistent and reliable seven hours of sleep a night. If I wake up in the middle of the...

Tinnitus Masking: Bone Conduction Headphones (e.g., Aftershokz) — Share Your Experience

I am using the Aftershokz Trekz Titanium now. It does a good job of letting ambient sound in while listening. I do find there is quite a pressure on the side of the head after listening for a while. I did try a very quiet room with these things on and played my trusty cricket sounds which did a...

Curing Through Sound — Can Anyone Comment?

I have perfect hearing in both ears up until about 12000Hz. Then it stops in my left ear and continues in my right up until about 16000Hz or so. I suspect then that the neurons on the right side of my brain that correspond to those missing frequencies are firing because they lack input. In an...

    Tinnitus Noise Experiments Project

Yes I apologise for posting hastily. I had only tried ACRN once (last night) and after about an hour I felt it was doing a *very* good job of keeping me focused in an extremely quiet environment. I don't know what my tone is as it is very high, so I put the ACRN fuzzer to 11khz and enjoyed an...

    Tinnitus Noise Experiments Project

Old thread but I agree that i can see the solution in the future being a small device embedded in the ear that plays these sorts of sounds to "silence" the T. Something discreet would be even better. In time it will be embedded directly into the ear so you don't even notice it is there. Masking...

18 Months Later — What Does That Feel Like?

John - I dont talk about my T unless I am asked. Before T I had no major psychological issues. Clean bill of health in that respect. A "love life" sort of guy. So it was a surprise for friends to see me go downhill so quickly. I bounced back of course, and the fun guy has come back. People...

18 Months Later — What Does That Feel Like?

I clued into this when I received some bad news about a friend who has cancer. That day, the T bothered me much less than usual. Now I don't suggest looking to other people's misfortune, but you should seek out other people who have had T for a long time and can give you some perspective. Find...

18 Months Later — What Does That Feel Like?

Hi all. I'll keep it brief as its a familiar story. Happy go lucky, healthy 38 yo guy who got T after one loud noise exposure. Initial shock to the high pitched ringing ensued and after no food or sleep for a week I was almost hospitalised. Took time off work, retreated from everything and...

    Detinnitiser

I've just downloaded the two different mp3s for $9. The first just sounds like white noise. It does the job of masking like most white noise generators do. The second one is a minute loop that you play on repeat. Every 6 seconds or so there are 3 seconds of short sharp bursts not unlike the...

    Ketogenic Diet

I also tried a strict ketogenic diet for a month. Most days my mmol/L were up in the ranges considered for me to be ketogenic. (I confirmed this with strips) I kick started with a 40 hour fast and then kept carbs to less than 50gm per day. My thinking was that similar to the positive effects it...

The Efficacy of Auditory Perceptual Training for Tinnitus: A Systematic Review

An old thread but I thought I'd post my recent experiences. I have been trying this game for 2 x 20 minutes each day for the last 7 days. My scores have been increasing whilst the intrusiveness has dropped noticeably. That last word is key... I've been dealing with high pitched T for 14 months...

    Help Identifying Tinnitus Frequency

Noise induced. Had a hearing test a year ago when it began and they said i was in normal ranges. I noticed no loss of hearing after getting tinnitus, but it is clear from my own online tests that my left ear has lost the upper ranges. (> 11000hz). Anyone else see correlation?

    Help Identifying Tinnitus Frequency

I'm having a hard time matching my tinnitus frequency. I think it is pure tone. Using online tone generators I've just discovered that (on soft volume) my right ear can hear up to 15000hz but my left ear taps out at about 11000hz. When trying to match my tinnitus frequency it seems to be at...
