Just Need Support and Some Positive Replies

Hey Jenn- No one can really say what causes this thing. There are just too many variables. Mine started after a steroid nasal spray( I think), but hard to say. You are currently in the throws of a life changing event. 5 weeks is not a long enough time to adjust yet. It may go away, but it may...

Put a Spotlight on Tinnitus Research

Well. As much as it sucks having this, I've concluded that at least it is not painful, annoying as hell and distracting at times, but not painful, and mine is loud. I doubt a cure will be found, too many variables with this. It is comforting to know that you are not alone. Unfortunately...

Please Give Me Guidance and Hope. I Just Joined and Bad Day.

If you are dizzy and nauseaus, it sounds more like vertigo. That, is actually treatable. Hard to say though. Most of the ENT's don't help much with the tinnitus. I know that I had myself so stressed by it that I was making myself feel sick and lost weight way to fast. Try your best to relax. I...

Please Give Me Guidance and Hope. I Just Joined and Bad Day.

Hi Misszora. I know what you are feeling. Had the same reaction 4 years ago when mine started. In my experience, any meds don't really work. I took some adivan to calm down, and ended up addicted to it. Not good. I can say now that it would have been best to just remain as calm as possible and...

Tinnitus, Depression and the Sound of the Crickets

Hi Ozzy- I was watching some coverage on the mining accident in turkey. You are not a miner are you? One of the names that came up was Ozgur and I thought about you. Hope things are going well. I'm still trying to get a grip on this T thing. Some days are better than others of course. I think...

Tinnitus, Depression and the Sound of the Crickets

My tinnitus seemed to start when I took some anti-biotics and was under a lot of stress. I've tried some physical therapy exercises for neck and jaw but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Somedays I feel I can cope with this and other days not so good. It also lowers your self esteem and self...

Tinnitus, Depression and the Sound of the Crickets

Ozzy- Thanks for getting back to me. Some days I do ok and others like today I really struggle. I'm trying some physical therapy for neck and jaw to see if that is related to the tinnitus. To early to tell, but I don't think it will help. It's difficult to think that this is a lifetime thing...

Hi John- I'm already taking half the supplements on the list to help with this problem. Ginko,magnesium,zinc,B12. I'm a little hesitant to add more stuff. A lot of the descriptions say they do about the same thing as the NAC. Do you think it would hurt to add that to the list or should I try...

    Hearing Aids

I have been trying hearing aids for a couple of weeks now. These have sound generators that also put a more pleasant noise in your ears. I like them because they help me calm down. I have only had tinnitus for about 2.5 months now. I'm hoping they will help me habituate to the noise. I'm only 48...

Well, it's been about 2 1/2 months, maybe a little more. I guess it is still in the early stages for me, but I hadn't heard of NAC. Is that something over the counter or something your doctor needs to prescribe? Not sure what HBOT is either. I have been using sound generators in my ears and they...

I did know that Shatner has tinnitus. There is a more in depth article online where he has some good insights on the condition.

Vitamins, Vitamins, and More Vitamins for Feeling Good n' Groovy!

I've been taking Ginko, zinc, magnesium, and B12. Not sure if they are doing anything. But I hope they aren't making things worse. I heard tinnitus can be caused by zinc deficiency which is why I take that.

Tinnitus, Depression and the Sound of the Crickets

Hi Ozgur- I was re-visiting your story for inspiration. I'm having a rough day, tinnitus seems loud today. I missed initially that you had been prescribed some antibiotics and that is around when it started. I too took some antibiotics right before the onset of this for sinus condition. Do you...

Tinnitus, Depression and the Sound of the Crickets

Thank you Ozzy. I really needed to hear this today. Been struggling for 2 months and always good to hear success stories. I've been dealing with the depression associated with this and I need to remember some of your insights. I know time helps but I don't feel anything like myself anymore, this...

I put my reply in the wrong place....sorry. Here it is.... Shatner is one of the reasons I used him as an Avatar. I am a long time Trek fan. I know he had this issue. I read the Bible every night before going to sleep and try to meditate prayerfully to get relaxed. I appreciate your comments and...

Reflections on Having Tinnitus for Just Over 2 Months

Thanks Billie. I too have been diagnosed with a panic disorder at a young age. I thought I left all that behind me. The meds, the psychologists, I always have anxiety, but this is kicking my but. You sound a lot like me. I too feel it will take a long time for me to recover. I'm glad to hear you...

Reflections on Having Tinnitus for Just Over 2 Months

I too have had T for 2 months. I am not doing well with it at all. I don't know how to get to the point where you are. I use hearing aids with white noise to help but I'm still anxious all the time. I'm trying to accept this, but it is difficult. Everyone says it gets better, I'm trying to be...

    Having a Bad Day

I know I have only had this for 2 months. But I keep hearing that it does get better. I had some bad news at work and that didn't help my mood or the tinnitus. I am having a hard time 'habituating' to this noise. I am using hearing aids, but I don't like the hearing aid part, I really only use...

    Don't Lose Hope~

tandpiano- when my T was at it's worst during the night time hours, I specifically read that Bible account. I also read some of the healings Jesus performed and think that He is still actively healing today. Sometimes the healing comes, sometimes it does not. I thought about Him healing the ear...

I have slight hearing loss, not sure if it is due to being a drummer, although I havn't been playing all that much lately or the nose problem I was having and the ENT giving me steroids and anti-biotics that may have set it off. I was also extremely stressed about my sinuses, I layed down one...

I am trying out some hearing aids that also put white noise in your ear to get you brain off the tinnitus. Have you ever tried these? They help me at night when I put the kids to bed more than anything. Hard to lay down and relax with the kids when your ears are ringing.

Thank you Carlos. I will keep thinking that way. I also feel that God gives us certain crosses to bear, and this is one of mine. But I think He helps me carry the weight. I really appreciate your feedback and support my friend.

Hi Carlos. I also take Ativan to stay calm. Sleep is difficult but has been better since using noise machines. It's a frustrating thing and hard to get used to. It sounds like after some time it does get better but hard to see for me.

I have had tinnitus since january of this year. I think it started by taking some meds prescribed by my ENT doc for a sinus problem. It sent me to the emergency room it got so bad. It has subsided somewhat but still difficult to get my focus off of it and has turned my life upside down at this...
