    Probably if somebody has anecdotal cases on hyperacusis vanishing after Ebselen treatment, it is Sound Pharmaceuticals as they have had Ebselen in clinical trials for hearing conditions for nearly ten years. Has someone maybe got a contact at Sound Pharmaceuticals?

    When I check Sound Pharmaceuticals' product pipeline, the first study they link to is this one, which started in September 2011. Nearly 10 years later and it still isn't possible to say if Ebselen is something good for the ear? Probably if it's safe, they should just release it, and let this...

    I think @FGG already linked this paper somewhere in this thread. A Novel Mouse Model of Aminoglycoside-Induced Hyperacusis and Tinnitus So at least it could treat hyperacusis in mice.

    For Meniere's they completed a Phase 2 trial and also had tinnitus on their outcome measure list. Do they have released some info how this drug has affected tinnitus? I can only find a short summary on their website saying it has improved hearing.

    Could it be that apart from the inner ear also the auditory cortex could be inflamed and we need something to calm this down?

    I have had also stiff/tense ear muscles. Since June I started wearing hearing protection as often as I could. There was/is a lot of muscle twitching under the muffs/plugs. Even my jaw sometimes contracts randomly when wearing hearing protection. But the ear muscles have become a lot more loose...
