Don't miss the opportunity to attend Tinnitus Quest's online Q&A with Dr. Susan Shore and Jon Pearson, CEO of Auricle on October 13. We will hear the latest about the Susan Shore Device.
I had a nap on a bed where I don't normally sleep. There is a phone next to that bed. The phone rang next to my head, and now my T is louder and more high pitched... What a never-ending torture...
I am less sure than ever that I will be able to handle a dental procedure...
It is definitely a spike. I was enjoying a rare hiss before I had that nap interrupted by a phone ringing, and now it is back to a high pitch tone... Now I know that a good T day is like walking on a tight rope - the smallest thing can turn it into a bad T day...
Today happens to be a 6-month anniversary of my acoustic trauma...
Before t I had my alarm set to radio so I knew it would wake me up. I haven't woken up to my alarm in 7 months. But on my onset it was still set that way and I would shut it off so fast cause I thought it was to loud, I've turned it on just to see what it sounded like now and there's no way it can do damage. Neither can a phone I don't believe. Try not to think to much about the dental work. I wish ya the best.
I agree with above. Tinnitus is usually its lowest on waking so its likely that is the case. Regardless, I doubt that would have been a enough to cause any damage to your auditory system anyway; Unless your phone is plugged up to an AMP and speakers at 100+DB lol.
The quicker you learn you can't control tinnitus but your reaction to it the better you will feel.

@Bill Bauer I now avoid picking up the phone, but rather started using hands free, and yet my left ear, the one with tinnitus, is very sensitive to the phone's speaker. I can even tell that my sound perception is louder with my bad ear than with my right ear, the intact one. The phone made me realize this today, it's weird because it's the same sound, but depending on what ear I chose to turn towards the phone, the sound perception doubles on the ear with tinnitus.
If it makes you feel better Bill, I feel just as tortured as you, you're not alone.
