I was diagnosed with ADHD a few years ago but never tried medication because I was afraid it might be ototoxic and worsen my hearing problems and tinnitus.

Does anyone here take medication successfully without experiencing tinnitus spikes or hearing damage? I would love to hear about your experiences treating ADHD and which medications did or did not work for you.

My husband has had tinnitus for five years, and last year he was diagnosed with ADHD. He started taking Dexamfetamine and immediately noticed that it helped with the tinnitus by allowing him to focus on other things. He also tried Lisdexamfetamine but prefers being able to control his dosage, which is easier with Dexamfetamine. Ritalin did not seem to have the same effect. Dexamfetamine also noticeably improved his mood, which is often quite low.

I've heard similar things from people with ADHD and tinnitus. Getting medicated is probably the right decision.
