Cause of Tinnitus
noise exposure while doing work on home
Got tinnitus 3 weeks ago and an increasing ear discomfort in the area between ear drum and outer ear. It doesn't feel like its inside my ear.

And I am not sure it's worse because I am thinking and slightly freaking out because of it.

I use inside the ear hifi plugs each day and wonder if that's affecting it at all, they are the softer eargasm ones.

I don't hear anything louder than normal, am not bothered by any specific sounds and the achey feeling doesn't correspond to sound as the feeling occurs in silence as well and at different times of the day.

Anyone had a similar experience after noise exposure and tinnitus?

a mild form of painful hyperacusis.

I've heard people say painful hyperacusis can be felt in the neck, jaw, face, nose middle ear or even head.

I had painful hyperacusis from February-June
When other people talk it felt like somewone was stabbing my brain. Now just discomfort.

Is the discomfort improving?

Sadly its not and neither is the Tinnitus. Ever since Jan 17/18 it has been very bad, my T before was a 2/10 and I was able to hear it only in a quiet room, but my ENT kept pressuring me to do blood tests and ear tests and it increased to a 8/10 and I got huge hearing loss on both ears.

in 4 months I will be 1 year with Severe T and H. Scary, right?

Why are you wearing ear plugs around? That will just exacerbate the issue.

That's very scary, though many of the success stories have people suffering 18 to 24 months before making a turn for the best so I hope that is you as well.
