Anime Character with Tinnitus

Not an anime I know but it's worth mentioning

Okay I have a theory that Luan from the Loudhouse has hearing loss and possibly tinnitus
same would go for Luna as well because of her loud music or maybe Lisa too when you consider all the lab explosions she has. But right now I'm just going to focus on Luan



She is roommates with Luna who is always playing the guitar and loud music
In one episode Luna got on Luan's nerves and she said she was going deaf because of her annoying music

Here Luan says she has ringing in my head after Luna throws her in a vent and bangs the crap out of it.

Also what is Luan known for? Comedy! Mostly her speech puns, but perhaps the reason she is so good at making speech puns is high frequency hearing loss distorting her hearing.

 

When I did a watchthrough of this anime, I forgot about this scene, and for some reason it hit me like a load of bricks.

 

Don't worry brother, we will soon be able to get this organ to stop generating garbage soon.

Don't watch the dub, my friend showed it to me and I kind of hate her for doing it. The Japanese VAs are way better.

 

I pretty much never watch dubs so... No worries

Aside from some stuff like Panty and Stocking (just my opinion), Cowboy Bebop, and ofc Ghost Stories, the subs are objectively better.

 

The FLCL dub wasn't too bad either. ROD the TV is also stellar. Most of the time though I just want to experience things as close to the original source material as possible, whether it's anime or movies, so subs it is.

Also, though Japanese voice actors sometimes overact, I feel like English dubs constantly overact. I have no idea why this is as this almost only happens in anime. Western cartoons have some phenomenal voice talent, but anime dubbing I can't say as much...

 

Its because American made cartoons hire high profile actors, anime dubs hire 15 year olds who are horribly inexperienced.

If I start a show and don't switch it right away to Japanese voices it actually destroys any future joy I would get from the show. Dubs were a mistake.

 

Dub actors tend to be very experienced though as they're often taken from the same pool across all shows. I feel like it's more of a class of acting thing than anything else.

Though I also now remember reading an article ways back how game and anime dubs very rarely hold auditions, and basically just get their actors into a booth, without any time to get into character, and just say "Go."

 

When you have Funimation doing the dubs, you always get this problem. It's why Ghibli dubs (done by Disney) and some others like Cowboy Bebop (by Animaze) turn out so well, the companies that make those dubs actually hire great voice actors and give them time to review the material and then perform.

My biggest issue with the dubs and the voice actors will oftentimes change what the character's say in sometimes plot breaking ways so their voice matches the characters mouth. It's just wrong. This is why I'm a subs4lyfe man.

4kidz is next level, they don't just dub series, they rewrite entire series to fit their agenda.
