      Hi all,

I was just curious whether hyperacusis carries reactive sounds along with it in addition to pain. I ask because I have what people call "reactive tinnitus" which is essentially just a form of hyperacusis.

      Cheers,
      Ignacio

I’ve been told by ear specialists that tinnitus that reacts to noise falls under the umbrella of hyperacusis. That hyperacusis is a term applied to a wide range of symptoms of a collapsed sound tolerance.

I have no pain nor do I fear noise. My tinnitus temporarily increases to a wide range of noises, most which seem to share a common frequency.

Early on everything seemed too loud — a traditional definition of hyperacusis, but that faded away gradually over six months. Still stuck with the reactive tinnitus.
