I'm looking to pick some up today for the long flight I have sunday.
All I see is that the Bose Quiet Comfort 25 seem to be the most popular but they're $300... Erg.
      Is it worth it?
Do you have any other suggestions?

I already own Shure SE215s (isolating earbuds)
and Shure SRH440s (studio head phones)
but I feel like I don't like wearing ear buds for too long because of all the information/misinformation I've read on here.

      Thanks for any feed back

I have bose... I like them. I bought them back in 2011 pre T...and still work great...of course I miss the silence now and how they remind me of the first time I put them on in 2011 and there was nothing but silence.

The only thing I hate is it has a battery and a cable? Maybe the newer models dont have a cable and support bluetooth.

I have the Bose qc 25 and I can highly recommend them.

So wearing a good noise cancelling headphone on flights is recommended?

Yes.. you will be surprised how quite it is. I know this from pre T and T experience and of course it felt more quite pre T.

At home Now when I put them on.. I hear my T right away... before I could hear nothing but silence. Silence is truly golden.

Got my Bose Quiet Comfort 25 yesterday. Amazing for car/train/flights! Pricy, but very nice.

I am not impressed by my Bose NC 15 headphones - thankfully given to me as a gift. However I say this in relation to how "quiet" they make sounds, rather than using them just as a better device to listen to music or movies on an airliner.
Check out this link for a general idea of what to expect: http://www.hearingreview.com/2008/06/attenuation-values-of-a-noise-cancelling-headphone/

Wow! Just 14 dB of protection with the model they evaluated. Pretty poor and many, many earplugs are quieter and more protective for the cost of a few dollars. For flying I use both the Bose and earplugs under them.

On the NC 15's its not like they are way inferior to the new 25's according to some reviews on the Bose site. Like this sentence, though apparently the NC part of the 25's is a bit better.

BIG step down from the QC15s

I had the QC1s and the QC15s. The QC15s were and still are the best headphones I've owned, hands down.

Overall, if you want over-ear protection, real protection, just buy some good plain earmuffs for $20 at Amazon - who cares what you look like?!
