My sister screamed in my ear today. She was probably 5 inches away from my ear. The scream lasted max one second. Can my tinnitus get worse?

"An individual who talks very loudly would have a decibel range of around 82 dB, while someone who shouts would reach levels of around 88 dB. " Found on the web and seems to be true, as I've read these numbers before.

Lets say it's 90 dB, measured at 1 m. You say 5 inches distance, which is 12,5 cm's.
That would mean an increase in dB of 9 dB. Which means probably no more than 100 dB, for barely a second.

No reason to worry I'd say.

You will most likely get a temporary (1-3-7 days) spike. This is probably not good for your recovery. Make sure that she doesn't do that again.

It would take 3 second if not as much as 7 seconds for any damage.

Thank you so much fir your answers. My sister screamed today again, but i was at another room two meters away and my phone was at max volume when i started watching a youtube video. And i cab say that one hour ago my ears were ringing pretty loudly. Now only my lwft ear is ringing little bit louder than it used to. It has sure been a rough day but let's see what tomorrow will give us.
Thank you again and have a good day/night.

I've got a list of things like that every week. We can't avoid it, but most of them are very normal sounds and should not damage your hearing further, at most you could get a set back most likely..
