Cause of Tinnitus
noise-induced
Can anyone else relate to the persistent feeling of being a bad friend because so much to do with social events etc depends on how loud it will be?

I have fairly mild tinnitus and suffered a bout of hyperacusis last year, however, both have died down to a manageable level and I want to keep it that way! My ears can cope pretty well with everyday life but they are definitely more sensitive to higher-level noise.

I don't attend concerts or clubs etc but I mean, for instance, when a friend jacks the stereo up in their car I often find it uncomfortably loud and then my ears tend to feel all inflamed afterwards.

I am supposed to be meeting some friends to go to a trampoline park tomorrow, however, looking at the reviews on tripadvisor has left me quite worried since quite a few mentioned that it was very loud and noisy. I am honestly not really willing to put myself in a position where I could be susceptible to more damage especially since I have reached a place where my ears have recovered and I don't want all that to be for nothing...

The thing is, my friend has already booked my place so I'm having to come up with an excuse and bail. I do feel really bad and selfish about cancelling but it's a bit of a catch-22...

I know how frustrating it is when someone cancels on plans last-minute but I would rather deal with a mildly-pissed off friend than have my ears damaged further.

Can you guys all relate to these situations?
