Ciprofloxacin Downregulates GABA Receptors

I imagine downregulation relates to an alteration in function?

Can GABAA receptors be unregulated?

It doesn't say they downregulate the receptors, it says they antagonize them. This seems like relatively new information from a literature search, I can't find if the receptors' antagonism is reversible or over what time frame.

It also appears to mess with serotonin and noradrenaline levels.

I imagine the body could readjust (even if it had to upregulate other GABA receptors etc) in most cases but it could take a long time.
