Tinnitus Since
4 September 2013
hello
I am suffering from tinnitus in my right ear since 4 september..i had sore throat since 3 september and now im fine but that ringing still continues in my ear. my ent specialist said that an infection spread from my throat to my ear. she gave some anti-infectants and some nasal drops to clear nasal congstion (five day medication). tommorow is the 5th day but still i see no remarkable change in the condition of tinnitus. i also feel a little blockage in my right ear and i am not able to hear properly from that ear .
my confusion is "did i get tinnitus because of that sore throat or is it because of some sort of permanent hearing loss caused to due to listening to music in my earphones"
how do know that it is not a permanent hearing loss? what are some other symptoms except tinnitus for hearing loss??
and i want to know is my ENT specialist right on what she said? i mean i never heard of anyone who got tinnitus due to sore throat or throat infection.(i had a habbit of drinking very cold water which caused sore throat)
please help me..i feel really disgusting and frustrated..im 17 and its really a crucial year of my life and i want to concentrate on my studies but this thing is disturbing me..

Hello sharat sorry to hear about your T. Please go through some posts here on this forum, there's lots of information and helpful members here. If you have ear infection, 1 drop of 3% hydrogen peroxide in the ears help, 3 times a day. Make sure the hydrogen peroxide strength is ONLY 3% , here in Canada its available over the counter in pharmacies.

Hi, Sharat,

Here is a link about Eustachian tube dysfunction that may help:
http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Eustachian-Tube-Dysfunction.htm

Since your tinnitus is so new, it's hard to say if the condition is permanent, or if relief of the ear infection will alleviate the problem. I think the best thing to do is to treat the ear infection first, as suggested by your doctor. Or, you can also try Sherri's suggestion above for the hydrogen peroxide drops.

We wish you well, and hope you'll keep us posted on how you're doing.

Went to ENT again..now its confirmed I have Eustachian tube dysfunction..a swelling in the tube has caused the tinnitus and the muffled hearing..she said its going to take around 4-6 weeks to heal properly and she also gave me some medications including the one I used before..
now I hope Ill get better after a month..anyways thank you for your support.. :)
