Earplugs on Public Transport, Yes or No?

So I have to commute about 2 or so hours each day (1 hour to, 1 hour from) and I'm wondering if wearing ear plugs is a good idea.

I've been using Silicone plugs from Walgreens for the past couple of days. But today my ears feel a bit full, wondering if the plugs are to blame.

Should I keep wearing them, or quit?

When you wear these plugs, they feel like they provide a lot more protection compared to the plugs from the store. At the same time they are comfortable.

I would wear them if your commute is loud. I ride and wear 3M Classic earplugs. They're a little less rubbery and really fill the ear.

@ringringer - Just curious, why not wear Peltor muffs? They are ugly but do a great job with reducing noise and also eliminates having to insert plugs in your ear a couple of times a day.

I wear plugs on the train even when my ears feel fine. Even if I heal 100% I always will. train sounds are grating. You really don't need 35db of reduction though. I tend to go 15db.

I would say yeah because yesterday a guy at a grocery store dropped a 6 stack of wood pallets next to me and it was LOOOOUD. I was so irritated that i left the store in a huff.
