      Dear Dr Nagler,

My Tinnitus came on after a week away on holiday. However, when looking in to causes, the link to ED Meds jumped out at me, as I took a single Viagra pill around a week before this happened. I didn't notice anything at the time, so I believe any side effect was delayed. I spoke to my ENT, and he totally dismissed this, even though I said there had been links after reading some articles. Needless to say the rest of the course won't be taken. I just feel this had some input in to what happened, but I can't prove it. Even stranger is my hearing test was perfect, so am sort of at the end of the road for answers really. If it was the medication, even reading papers and opinions on the internet, there is only supposition and guesswork, which is scary. I guess I have two options, get used to this and move on, or be very lucky and hope it fades. Am just surprised there isn't more on here about these med links, although maybe it's rare. Have you come across many cases? The apparent lack of any hearing seems odd.

It is totally understandable that with the onset of tinnitus one would search and search and search for a possible cause. That's just what you did ... and you have settled on a single Viagra pill taken a week prior to the onset of your tinnitus as the likely culprit. But I feel quite comfortable in telling you that had you not taken that pill, you still would have tinnitus ... and by now you'd have settled on another culprit or found yourself among that vast number of folks with tinnitus due to no apparent cause at all.

Bottom line: It wasn't the Viagra.

      That's how I see it.
